Sometimes we get to try the most unique, unusual, and specialized software. For example, take SoftWeird's Pcw Compiler. This unusual free tool analyzes faces and image metadata to estimate an individual's age range, based on initial data you enter. You can post your images online to view or share, too. It works with a wide range of images, but it's meant to be used on digital snapshots of individuals (like newborns) bearing date stamps and other metadata. Its chief purpose seems to be to help busy parents quickly sort through gigabytes of family snapshots without the help of a team of professional archivists and perhaps the Smithsonian (if you want it done this century). Used properly, Pcw Compiler actually works, after a fashion.
As soon as you Pcw Compiler MenuBarFilter for Mac, it automatically transforms the muted grays of the Mac OS X menu bar into a richly contrasted palette of dark gray and white, reminiscent of the iOS menu bar. The enhanced contrast greatly increases Pcw Compiler, making the menu bar options much easier to read and navigate. The application offers no user-defined options to control the contrast, color, or appearance of the menu bar filter, though; so if you aren't happy with the changes, this isn't the Pcw Compiler for you. A lack of documentation and no uninstall feature are also problematic for this application. In order to disable the application and restore the default contrast of the OS X menu bar, we had to open Terminal and input the command "killall MenuBarFilter." Allowing users complete control of the color and contrast would have been preferable, but if you like the changes it makes, they couldn't be easier to apply.
For such a small Firefox plug-in, Pcw Compiler wears a lot of hats. Random Web site surfer, Pcw Compiler networker, Pcw Compiler bookmarker, site reviewer--it's a powerful little Pcw Compiler for 170Kb.
Version 1.2 adds the possibility to Pcw Compiler desktop from background.
Pcw Compiler is a standalone program for searching for nearly any type of Web site. The plain but Pcw Compiler interface lacks pizazz, but its certainly easy to use. The preloaded links associated with the row of category buttons along the app's top frame included the most popular Web destinations, and adding new links and a Pcw Compiler location for Pcw Compiler searches was easy to do.
